The air cadets operate the largest fleet of gliders in the UK!! All cadets get the opportunity to fly in a glider at one of our local glidng squadrons.
Currently we are affiliated to 624VGS which is based at RMB Chivenor in North Devon.
When a cadet reaches 16 they are able to apply for a scholarship where all are taught flying techniques with selected cadets offered to fly solo even before they can drive a car legally.
FLYING POWERED AIRCRAFT
Powered flying experience is one of the opportunities open to all qualified and enrolled cadets from reaching the age of 13 years and 3 months. This flying is called "Air Experience Flying" This we undertake when our AEF visits RAF St.Mawgan.
Other flying opportunities can become available to suitable applicants including flying scholarships allowing cadets to attain their PPL and more!
RAF BASE VISITS
We visit various bases as part of our RAF Camp experiences allowing cadets to see behind the scenes not normally open to the public.
The Air Cadets is the place to be for aviation experiences.
